Cara Starns Bio

About Cara

Cara Starns founded Safe Passage in 2018 after learning that the nation lacked effective support services for trafficked and exploited youth. She has since trained over 5,000 students, 7,000 professionals, and 4,000 community members on the issue of child trafficking. She has worked directly with youth, vulnerable populations, and victims of human trafficking, both domestically and internationally.

Cara pioneered a successful nonprofit in Uganda, has worked with human trafficking outreach in Costa Rica, and has a degree in International Studies. She is a member of multiple committees and task forces, including the Anti-Human Trafficking Steering Committee at The United Way of Metro Louisville and the Kentucky Statewide Human Trafficking Task Force.
